Don’t worry about what other people think of you. Don’t stress about trying to make everyone else happy, concentrate on yourself and who you are. Be the best you that you can possibly be, for yourself. Why should we change who we are just to make the people around us accept us? It sucks that so much emphasis is placed on being perfect and fitting into the right crowd. I’m not going to lie though, the expectations of those around us also exert a strong influence on our identity and who we think we should be. Who cares? Everyone wants to fit in, but why should that mean we should be the same as everyone else? You are your own person and you are so special. If you haven’t been told that in a while, I’m telling you now. You are amazing.
We spend too long listening to what other people think. Our friends telling us “that T-shirt is ugly.” Our family saying “You really need to watch what you eat, as we take a bite of a chocolate bar.” and the media telling us to “have the perfect body”.
Its up to us to decide who we want to be.
- Buy that orange T-Shirt with the smiley face on it that you saw in the charity shop.
- Eat the biggest burger that you can find and get ketchup all over your face.
- Pick up a comic book and go back to your childhood days when we only ever wanted to be a superhero, instead of the unrealistic supermodels we see in magazines.
- Accept the fact that you are different to every other person in the world, and do what you want to do.
You have no idea how important you are. In a years time, do you think things will be the same as they are now? The world is ever changing and you’re going to be there to watch it but that doesn’t mean you need to follow every single rule that society places on us.
“Do this!” “Eat this!” “Choose this sexuality!” “Look like this!”
ITS NOT IMPORTANT.
As long as you are happy then you can achieve anything that you want to achieve. You can tell that boy that you like him, or tell that girl that you’ve loved her since you were 10.
You will never know which day is going to be your last, so why would you want to spend your last day on earth as someone that you’re not?
